Abstract

This research aims to explore how gender communication can play a role in creating socio-political harmony in Indonesia, as well as reducing socio-political inequality between genders. This research uses an interpretative qualitative approach to explore expressions of socio-political harmony through gender communication in Indonesia. This research uses gender communication theory developed by researchers such as Deborah Tannen and Judith Butler. The findings and discussion in this research show that the role of gender communication in strengthening social integration in Indonesia can be seen through two main perspectives. Deborah Tannen's perspective underlines the importance of understanding the differences in communication styles between men and women, which can help reduce misunderstandings and increase cooperation. Meanwhile, Judith Butler's perspective highlights how gender communication can break down social norms that limit gender identity and expression, paving the way for a more inclusive and equal society. Both theories, when applied in the Indonesian socio-political context, have great potential to strengthen social integration, reduce gender inequality, and create a more just and harmonious society.
