Abstract

The rapid growth of game live-streaming platforms has created a new communication space that functions not only as entertainment media but also as a venue for the dissemination of religious values. This phenomenon has fostered the emergence of Indonesian Muslim gaming communities that integrate gaming activities with interactive da'wah practices through live broadcasts. This study examines the practice of da'wah communication in game live streaming and identifies the characteristics of Islamic broadcasting emerging from interactions between streamers and audiences. Employing a qualitative approach with a digital ethnography design, data were collected through participant observation of live streams, in-depth interviews with Muslim streamers, moderators, and active viewers, as well as documentation analysis of streamed content and live-chat interactions. Data were analyzed through reduction, display, and conclusion drawing, supported by source and method triangulation to ensure validity. The findings reveal that da'wah communication is conducted dialogically through the integration of Islamic messages into gameplay, spontaneous responses to audience inquiries, exemplary online conduct, and the use of humor and narratives contextualized within digital culture. Islamic broadcasting within Muslim gaming communities is characterized by high audience participation, egalitarian communication, ethics-based content moderation, and strategic use of platform features to strengthen interaction and community solidarity. These findings demonstrate that game live streaming serves as an adaptive medium for da'wah, expanding the reach of Islamic communication through participatory and community-based approaches. This study contributes to the literature on digital da'wah communication by highlighting the transformation of religious outreach within interactive media ecosystems that integrate entertainment, technology, and religious identity formation
